Pretty Bride, Pretty Wedding

Sometimes, you meet people and you connect.  And when it happens, it is so much fun!  I met Katya at my shop about 9 months prior to her wedding.  She came in with her mom, and I loved them both.  So sweet and funny.  When this happens, it’s like I’m not really working, but helping friends plan their wedding.

Katya never let on all the amazing things she and her fiance were into, like skiing and scuba diving, travelling all aound the world.  When I found that out, I wanted her to be my friend even more!!

The great thing about working with Katya was that she knew what she wanted, she knew her budget, and she was open to working together.  These are great points to facilitate the process.

Her bridal party was a lot of fun, as you would expect from this kind of couple.  One of the Bridesmaids did double duty, as Asti Livingston is, among other things, a photographer.  Her fab photos come via Apricot Lime.

The outdoor ceremony took place at the Gazebo at the Nottawasaga Inn – we do a lot of beautiful weddings here.  It was a beautiful October day, and after the gazebo they headed into the reception.

The tall centerpieces were created with curly willow and white hydrangeas.  The vases were banded with rhinestone ribbon over a brown satin ribbon to pull all the elements together.  This was placed on a light disc to give a romantic, ambient light when the lights went down later in the evening.   A few well placed votives sparkle off the rhinestone trim and bounce off the mirror.

Katya’s palette of white, blue and brown was a lovely choice for the fall wedding – not the usual “fall colours”, but a warm, rich and unexpected choice.  I loved helping them create this day, and this is what Katya had to say:

Hi Shawna,

 Wow, wow, wow!

What an incredible job you did with absolutely everything!!!

The flowers were absolutely incredible, the decor… when I walked into the room, I was in awe.. guests were talking to me and I was mesmerized by how beautiful the room looked. I had to snap out of it a few times and apologize! hahaha

So many people commented on how tasteful and beautiful everything was!

The centre pieces were simply fantastic – they were glowing!!!

The biggest hit of course were the cruiser tables! As soon as the dinner was over, the entire wedding was around those tables. haha I could not of course forget that it was your suggestion for us to ask Sylvia to place them. So thank you again and please continue to recommend them to people!

I am sooooo very happy with how everything turned out! I couldn’t have picked a better person for the job!

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING! YOU ARE FANTASTIC! A TRUE TALENT!!!
